Solo Travel For Women - Where to start

Do you want to embark on a solo adventure but feel hesitant about what to expect?

It's completely understandable to have concerns; I know I've been there too. Losing something, getting to your destination safely, eating alone, exploring alone, getting lost, being ill....the list goes on. You may even think it's easier to stay at home....yes, you might be right, but is that what you really want?

Solo holidays often push you out of your comfort zone and make you do things you never thought possible. Still, they can be incredibly fulfilling and confidence-boosting experiences. So. let me help you take your first steps and push the boat out...quite literally because one of my favourite ways to travel solo is cruising.

If you've never cruised before, you might have some preconceived ideas about what it's like: ball gowns and formal dinners, couples and organised events? Let me debunk those myths and unveil the reality of modern cruising, where relaxation, exploration, and socialising come together to create unforgettable journeys.

Cruising often conjures images of formal attire, stuffy dining rooms, and rigid schedules. However, today's cruise industry offers an enormous amount of options to suit every taste and preference. While you can certainly opt for elegant evenings and formal dinners if that's your style, there are also plenty of relaxed dining options where you can enjoy delicious food freshly cooked to order in your everyday clothes. Picture yourself dining al fresco under the stars or savouring gourmet burgers by the pool; cruising offers the perfect blend of sophistication and laid-back charm.

The Cruise Experience:

Imagine waking up each morning to views of the waves stretching to the horizon or the sun rising over the ancient walls of an old town in a Mediterranean port. That's the beauty of cruising: there's a sense of tranquillity and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Step onboard and discover a world of endless possibilities, where every moment is yours to savour.

Cruise ships are like floating resorts, offering a whole host of activities and services to suit every interest. There's never a dull moment, from lounging by the pool with a refreshing cocktail to trying your hand at a bungee or yoga class. And when it comes to exploring on land, the options are equally enticing. Whether you're strolling through cobblestone streets in a historic European city, snorkelling in crystal-clear Caribbean waters, or immersing yourself in the vibrant culture of a bustling Asian city, each port of call offers a new adventure waiting to be discovered.

Safety First:

Safety is one of the biggest reasons I suggest cruising for solo female travellers. When you embark on a cruise, you're stepping into a secure environment where safety protocols are stringent and crew members are trained to ensure the well-being of all passengers. Cruise ships are like floating cities, with round-the-clock security and surveillance, providing a reassuring environment for solo female travellers. Visit the club or a bar in the evening, and you can walk back to your cabin with total peace of mind.

Socialise with Ease:

One of the beauties of cruising is the opportunity to meet new people from all walks of life. As a solo traveller, you'll find it effortless to strike up conversations with fellow passengers in the cafes and bars, shore excursions, or onboard activities. Whether it's a casual chat over dinner or joining a group exercise class, you'll never feel alone on a cruise ship. Plus, making new friends becomes even easier with dedicated solo traveller meet ups and activities.
