Cornish Landscapes & the Magical Isles of Scilly
Almost tropical yet reassuringly British.

There’s something quietly comforting about Cornwall. Sea air that feels cleansing rather than bracing. Harbours that invite slow wandering. Cream teas without a timetable. And, tucked just off the coast, islands that feel almost tropical — yet reassuringly British.
This is a week to breathe deeply, potter gently, and let the sea set the pace.
Why this feels like a Gentle Escape
You’ll be based in one welcoming hotel for seven nights in Newquay, so there’s no packing and unpacking. The days are varied but unhurried; pretty harbour towns, coastal views, and time simply to sit and watch boats drift in and out.
There’s the option to explore more… or to stay put with a cup of tea and the ocean for company. And because everything is arranged, from coach travel to included excursions, you can relax into the experience without worrying about logistics.
What your days might feel like
You’ll explore some of Cornwall’s most loved spots — but always at a gentle pace.
St Ives - A morning wandering the harbour. Independent shops. Perhaps a cream tea overlooking the water. There’s no rush, just time to soak up the atmosphere.
Isles of Scilly - This is the real jewel of the week. Sailing from Penzance to St Mary’s, you’ll arrive somewhere that feels almost other-worldly — white sands, turquoise water, and a softness to the light. You might wander through Hugh Town’s little shops and cafés, sit beside Porthcressa Beach, or simply watch island life drift by.
It’s a full day — but beautifully memorable. (If you’re someone who feels unsure at sea, I’d gently suggest bringing motion-sickness tablets, just in case. The sailing can occasionally be choppy.)

Some highlights along the way include:
Padstow & Port Isaac
More wandering around Padstow’s working harbour and foodie reputation make it a lovely lunchtime stop.
Doc Martin will instantly recognise the winding streets and whitewashed cottages. Even if you’ve never seen the series, it’s impossibly pretty.
Falmouth & Truro
In Falmouth, you’ll visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and uncover Cornwall’s seafaring story.
Later, Truro offers a gentle stroll through Cornwall’s only city — its cathedral rising beautifully above cobbled streets.
Where you’ll be staying
The Pentire Hotel sits close to Fistral Beach, with sea views and a relaxed, friendly feel. Rooms are comfortable and welcoming, and there’s a heated indoor pool if you fancy a quiet swim. Evenings are easy; dinner is included, and there’s occasional entertainment if you’d like to join in.
It’s the sort of place where solo guests feel entirely at ease, you can chat in the lounge, or enjoy your own quiet corner with a book.
